Beware Saturated Ground, Falling Trees

January 8, 2017 |

Along with the risks this weekend's atmospheric river is bringing to Northern California in the form of flooding, perhaps the more universal danger is from falling trees.

An EGN reader in Wilton residing near Clay Station Road sent us a batch of pictures today showing the effects of saturated ground. Overnight one of the trees on their parcel fell after the heavy rainfall.
Fortunately the tree fell away from the house and did not hit power lines on its way down. Our reader said it happened overnight and given the fact it was unheard suggests the fall was somewhat gradual versus a more dangerous sudden crash.

Most importantly, there were no injuries.
