Elk Grove Man Allegedly Steals Car, Charged With Assault

An Elk Grove man is being held without the possibility of bail when a person was injured after he allegedly stole a car.

On the late afternoon of Monday, April 17 Elk Grove Police received a report that Michael William McCormick, 34, had taken a vehicle without the owner's permission on Gamay Way. The caller also reported that McCormick had allegedly dragged a victim along who sustained injuries.

Responding officers located McCormick and after conducting a records search, it was discovered he was on post-release community supervision. McCormick is being held on assault and theft charges and will be arraigned on Wednesday, April 19.
