Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested After Briefly Eluding Elk Grove Police on 9 Mile Vehicle Pursuit

An Elk Grove man was arrested after he led and briefly eluded Elk Grove Police on a nine-mile vehicle pursuit.

At approximately 5 a.m. on Sunday, May 21, Elk Grove Police were dispatched to Laguna Springs Drive and West Stockton Boulevard after receiving reports of an occupied vehicle blocking the roadway.  The reporting person said that the driver was also passed out inside the vehicle. 

Responding officers located the vehicle being driven by Reyad Mohammed Edais and conducted a vehicle stop. Upon contact, Edais reportedly displayed objective signs of impairment, but before he was detained, he fled the scene.

Edais did not yield and led officers on a pursuit of about nine miles. Officers terminated the pursuit due to erratic driving but were able to locate him at another location where he was then arrested. 

The suspect was booked into the county jail and has been released on bail.
