UPDATED - Search Widens For at-Risk Elk Grove Man

UPDATED 12:00 p.m - Mr. Blanton has been located and is alert/conscious in the area of Bilby Rd. / Bruceville Rd. He has been taken to a local area hospital for treatment.

The search for an elderly Elk Grove man suffering from dementia who has been missing for over 24 hours has widened.

According to information posted on social media by Elk Grove Police, the search for James Blanton, 76, has widened to include assets from the State Office of Emergency Services and the Sacramento County Sheriff's helicopter. 

Mr. Blanton, who suffers from dementia, was last seen in near Paul Do Mar Way in Elk Grove's East Franklin neighborhood. After being unable to locate Mr. Blanton, the search was initially expanded to the Hood Franklin area just south of Elk Grove.
