Alleged Reckless Driver Crashes into Light Pole, Arrested After Leading Elk Grove Police on Vehicle Pursuit

An Elk Grove man is in custody at the Sacramento County Jail after leading police on an early morning vehicle pursuit.

Just after 1 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, Elk Grove Police officers observed a vehicle being allegedly operated recklessly by 19-year old Jeffrey LaCalle near Geneva Pointe Drove and Power Inn Road. When officers attempted to pull over LaCalle, he reportedly did not yield and led the patrol unit on a 3.1-mile pursuit.

The pursuit ended when La Calle lost control of the vehicle and collided with a light pole. LaCalle was taken into custody without incident and was arrested after being medically cleared at an area hospital.

LaCalle is being held on a bail of $75,000 for felony reckless driving and misdemeanor driving with a suspended drivers license charges. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, September 25.
