Probationer Allegedly Found Possessing Loaded Firearm, Arrested After Being Spotted by Elk Grove Police

An Elk Grove Police officer arrested a known probationer who was also to have a suspended drivers license after being observed operating a vehicle. 

Just before midnight on Sunday, July 1 the patrol officers saw Andrew Ruiz, 20 of Elk Grove, operating a motor vehicle in the area of Sheldon Road and East Stockton Boulevard. The officer conducted a vehicle stop and made contact with Ruiz.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded firearm. Ruiz was arrested for several firearm charges, including being a criminal street gang member in possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance for sale and transportation of a controlled substance.
