An Elk Grove man was taken into custody after a domestic violence incident led to the discovery of an assault weapon.

Just before 4 p.m. on Friday, December 21 Elk Grove Police responded to a call for a domestic violence incident. The suspect, Devon Pettit, 28, allegedly placed his hands around the neck of the victim and then pushed the victim causing a fall.

Pettit was arrested and booked into the county jail, and the victim was granted an emergency protective order.
