Video - Elk Grove Vice Mayor Humes gives history, background on city's relations with Sac RT

December 16, 2018 |

As part of their deliberations to pursue a new agreement with Sacramento Regional Transit (Sac RT), Elk Grove Vice Mayor gave an approximately 10-minute presentation on the topic.

Hume, who began his service on the Elk Grove City Council 12 years ago this month and was reelected to his fourth and final four-year term, is the longest-tenured member on the five-person council. For many of those years, Hume has served as the city's representative on board of Sac RT board of directors.

Below is a video giving where Hume explained the history of why Elk Grove broke from Sac RT, and why dropping MV Transporation, the city's current private sector bus transit provider in favor of Sac RT would be beneficial. One benefit Hume cited was the reunification might help bring the next Sac RT's Light Rail expansion to Elk Grove instead of  Sacramento International Airport.
