Neighborhood group releases video of California Northstate University helicopter noise test; Suen to face District 1 voters

An Elk Grove neighborhood group opposing a proposed hospital released a video yesterday of a recently conducted helicopter noise test.

The group, Neighbors Ensuring Sincere Transparency - NEST - produced the video of the noise test conducted by California Northstate University (CNU) on Friday, November 1. CNU is seeking approval from the City of Elk Grove and California's Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development to build a $900 million 400 bed trauma hospital adjacent to their campus in the Stonelake neighborhood.

The proposed hospital has generated opposition in Elk Grove's city council District 1 that is represented by Darren Suen. From the time of CNU's announced plans in December 2018, Suen has advocated for the hospital even though it would require demolition of the Stonelake Landing shopping center and the disruption of several businesses, some of which have long-term leases.

One of those businesses with a long-term lease - Dreaming Dog Brewery - will host a community meeting tonight that will feature a discussion with Councilmember Suen. Tonight's meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
