Catalytic converter theft suspect apprehended by Elk Grove Police



A Sacramento man suspected of stealing a car and its catalytic converter in October was apprehended by Elk Grove Police.

On October 2, 2019 a vehicle was stolen from a residence on Bull Mountain Circle, driven to a nearby location and stripped of its catalytic converter. The vehicle was recovered.

Through investigative efforts, Elk Grove Police identified one of the suspects as Richard James Vang, 38, of Sacramento. On Friday, January 3 Vang was arrested at his residences.

A probation search of his residence led to the discovery of burglary tools and is held on several charges including motor vehicle theft (VC 10851), removing vehicle Parts (VC 10852), possession of burglary tools (PC 466), conspiracy (PC 182), violation of probation (PC 182) and drug-related charges. Arraignment is on Tuesday, January 7.
