This week NASCAR Driver and Elk Grove's favorite son Kyle Larson committed an act of career self-immolation. In 2014 Larson was Elk Grove’s first key to the city recipient at the tender age of 21.

Not mentioned in this was that even though the city awarded the key, she never showed up to accept it, but really, can you blame her after how she was criticized by Hume and Stephanie Nguyen. Who is more offensive now, Larson or Saweetie?
Given the possible embarrassment of Mr. Larson's regrettable actions, maybe the City Council will discontinue this silliness. When the city gives a key to the city to a resident for simply attending meetings, and occasionally praising its members, you know the Key to the City is Elk Grove's equivalent to a participation trophy.
