A woman from Elk Grove who was reportedly seeking photos from the Foresthill Bridge in Auburn was injured this afternoon.
According to a social media post from Placer County Sheriff, the couple from Elk Grove visited the landmark on California Hwy 49 after seeing posts on the popular Tik Tok application trespassing under the bridge. The victim described as a young woman who fell over 20 feet from a girder.
The Sheriff's Department reported she "was fortunate not to have fallen further & died. Risk of death is NOT worth your social media post."
The extent of the injuries was not immediately available and there was no report of citations issued. In recent weeks Placer County Sheriff's Department has made numerous arrests at the bridge spanning the American River canyon.
