Early morning catalytic converter thieves apprehended by Elk Grove Police



Two men were arrested by Elk Grove Police on suspicion of stealing catalytic converters after being notified by a caller.

On Friday, July at 4:30 a.m. police officers responded to a call regarding suspicious activity in a business park area on the 9800 block of Dino Drive. The caller said they heard noises and noticed the fence had been cut open. .

The caller also identified a white van leaving the area that officers located. After following the van, officers observed the Brian Klum, 38, allegedly cutting a fence on Williamson Drive

While detaining Klum, a passenger in the van, Joshua Taylor, 30, fled the area. Taylor was apprehended later and detained.

A search of their vehicle led to the discovery of two catalytic converters, burglary tools, methamphetamine, and narcotic paraphernalia. A record check also revealed Kulm had an active warrant out for his arrest.

Klum and Taylor were arrested and booked into the county jail.
