Study on school funding equity places Elk Grove Unified in top tier of California school districts

In a study released today by Wallethub.com examining school district funding equity in California, Elk Grove is in the top eight percent of school districts in the state.

The study, which examined the 919 California school districts, Wallethub ranked the Elk Grove Unified School District in 75th place. The study noted that compared to other states, Califonia has the second least equitable funding mechanism 

The variable used in the study was based on two measures - average household income and expenditures for public elementary and secondary schools per pupil. Elk Grove Unified spend an average of $11,515 per student and the average household income district-wide is $76,348 (The methodology is described below).
