Real Estate independent expenditure committees spending big on behalf of Singh-Allen to defeat Ly in Elk Grove mayoral race

In a sign of the real estate business interest in Elk Grove, two independent expenditure committees have so far combined to spend over $172,000 to help the mayoral campaign of Bobbie Singh-Allen.

The latest group to weigh-in on the hotly contested Elk Grove mayoral race is the California Real Estate Association. In financial disclosure reports filed with Elk Grove City Clerk's office, the real estate group has spent $119,460 to benefit the Singh-Allen race.

In two separate disclosures recorded on October 8 and 12, the Los Angeles-based group made the following expenditures:
  • mailer 10/10 - $23,918
  • mailer 10/08 - $23,768
  • polling 10/06 - $22,000
  • research 10/06 - $4,316
  • mailer and voter file 10/06 - $25,589
  • consulting 10/06 - $20,000
Previously, another independent expenditure committee, the National Associaton of Realtors Fund spent $53,457 to aid the Singh-Allen campaign. Those expenditures were for polling and a mailing.

Ly has not received any independent expenditures on his behalf or in opposition to Singh-Allen. By law, independent expenditure committees cannot coordinate with a candidate's campaign organization.
