With forecasted excessive heat event, cooling center opens tomorrow in Elk Grove

With the start of a multi-day excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service, a cooling center in Elk Grove will open tomorrow.
The cooling center will be at the Wackford Community Center at 9014 Bruceville Road. The cooling services will operate Wednesday through Friday from noon until 8 p.m.
Patrons will be provided seating, water, and air-conditioning. Visitors to the cooling center will be required to wear face coverings and masks will be provided to those who need them. The facility cannot accommodate pets.
The service is being offered by the Cosumnes Community Services District and the City of Elk Grove.
⚠️Update⚠️: the Excessive Heat Warning now starts at 2PM Wed Jun 16. Highs will range from 100-113° with warm overnight lows.
