Cooling center to open tomorrow at Elk Grove animal shelter

With another heatwave forecast, the City of Elk Grove and Cosumnes Community Services District will operate a cooling center starting Friday.
Unlike the previous center that operated at the CCSD's Wackford Center, the cooling center will operate at the Elk Grove Animal Center, located at 9150 Union Park Way. The facility will be open from noon until 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday, July 11.
In their announcement, it is noted the animal shelter is accessible on SacRT from routes E13 and E113. The cooling center will offer seating, water, and air-conditioning and visitors will be required to wear face coverings.
Masks will be provided to those who need them. The facility will accommodate pets and service animals.
