UPDATED: Stabbing homicide suspect arrested by Elk Grove Police

Elk Grove Police are investigating a Sunday morning stabbing homicide.
According to police reports, officers responded to the 8900 block of Sierra Street in Elk Grove's Old Town neighborhood shortly after 8:30. Upon arrival after receiving a call for medical assistance, officers detained the unidentified suspect at the front door of the residence.
The victim, who was known by the suspect, was found inside the residence and had sustained stab wounds. The suspect has been taken into custody.
The name of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner.
Elk Grove Police have identified the suspect as Ricky Sims, 36. The victim, whose name has not been released by the Sacramento County Coroner's office has been identified by police as a 36-year old female.
