In his bid to become the newest member of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, Republican Pat Hume has added to the roster of endorsements from law enforcement employee associations.

In a follow-up to his announcement last week that the Sacramento Probation Officers Association is supporting him, on his social media platform, Hume announced endorsements from the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff's, Elk Grove Police Officers, and Sacramento Police Officers associations. Unlike last week's announcement, these endorsements were on social media.

Hume, who has served on the Elk Grove City Council for four terms, is one of three Elk Grove-based candidates seeking the office that has been held by Don Nottoli since 1994. The other candidates are former Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly, who is running as an independent, and Cosumnes Community Services District Director Jaclyn Moreno, a Democratic candidate.

Ly's entry increases the possibility that the next District 5 Supervisor will not be determined until the November general election. If any of the three candidates break the 50-threshold in the June primary, they will have won the office, but if no candidate exceeds 50-percent, the top two finishers will advance to the November election.

Hume, like fellow Republicans, has enjoyed law enforcement association support throughout his career.  While Hume has largely eschewed social media since joining the Elk Grove City Council, for this campaign launched a Twitter and YouTube channel.

If you look at the 3 candidates there is only one LE can support if you really take a dive into the weeds. Moreno is backed by all the local Democratic clubs who has been for social justice reform, bail reform an defund the police. Her own political views shows she will side with Serna, Kennedy. Ly’s entry is interesting as he lost the support of all the local Democratic Party clubs which is funny that Ly brings up anything to do with public safety as he was not supported by LE when he was Mayor. It will be a battle between Ly an Moreno over what actually happened in 2016 campaign. Hume received the support of LE early because of his long standing support of LE, an his commitment to law an order an the actual safety to our communities. Depending on the mud slinging it is possible Hume could win the District seat in June but really expect this to go to November.
