This afternoon Elk Grove city manager Jason Behrmann announced that Elk Grove Assistant Police Chief Bobby Davis has been promoted as the new Chief effective this March upon the retirement of Chief Timothy Albright.
Davis, a 25-year law enforcement professional with two years at the EGPD, previously served in the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, where he held various posts overseeing the Professional Standards Division, Patrol Division, Investigations Division, and the Court Security Division. He also served as the Public Information Officer and Assistant Chief in the Rancho Cordova, who contracts the sheriff's department for law enforcement.
"I am confident that Chief Davis is the right person to lead the Elk Grove Police Department into the future. He understands the department and values the support and trust that has been built with the community over the years," Behrmann said. "He is committed to keeping Elk Grove safe through modern, innovative approaches to municipal policing and understands the importance of community engagement and partnerships in achieving this goal."
The last three chiefs were promoted from the department's ranks with Davis' promotion, and Davis is Behrmann's second hire.
A life-long resident of the Sacramento area, Davis possesses a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and is in the process of obtaining his master's degree. Additionally, Davis has completed the FBI-LEEDA Executive and Command Leadership Courses, Senior Management Institute for Police- Executive Leadership Studies, and the National Criminal Justice Leadership Institute Academy.
