In the highly competitive race for District 5 of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, Republican Pat Hume has established an early lead.

With 10-percent of votes tallies, Hume has secured 7,350 votes for 40.83-percent. In second place is Democrat Jaclyn Moreno with 5,772 votes for 32.07-percent and independent Steve Ly with 19.02-percent.

Although Hume is in first place with the first vote release, if the trend continues it is unlikely he will be able to secure a 50-percent majority that would have made him the winner. If Hume continues in first place he will face-off in November against the second place candidate, either Moreno or Ly.
