In a ceremony held at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors Chambers in the Sacramento County Building, Pat Hume took his oath of office for the District 5 seat. Hume narrowly won the seat over Jaclyn Moreno in the November election.
Hume replaces Don Nottoli, who served on the Board of Supervisors for 28 years. Previous to being the Supervisor representing District 5, Hume served for 16 years on the Elk Grove City Council and is the longest-serving council member in the city's 22-year history.
Notolli, who endorsed Hume's candidacy, administered the oath. Hume was accompanied by his wife, Ms. Lisa Hume.
Besides acknowledging his mother, and his wife Lisa's campaign support, Hume spoke glowingly of Nottoli, who endorsed his candidacy. Hume said that Notolli leaves office with a strong legacy and that he will work to continue his dedication to public service.
"I will try my best to do the good important work as well and faithfully as I can," he said. "I am excited about the trajectory the county is on right now, and I think we have great things ahead of us."
During his comments, Hume also said he retained Notolli's chief of staff, Rebecca Sloan. Hume also said Dominic Pruitt would be a special assistant.
Hume closed his remarks by saying, "I hope that I am able to follow in the footsteps, but not fill the shoes, follow in the footsteps of those who came before me and do the seat the honor it deserves."
Along with Hume, the oath of office was administered to Sacramento County Supervisors Patrick Kennedy and Phil Serna, Sacramento County Accessor Christina Wynn, and Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho.

Did Pat Hume win a Golden Globe for that performance?
Eye on Elk Grove are your feelings hurt? Pat is the best person for the job.
Speeches off the cuff can sound great by some and questionable by others. Like the other Supervisors Mr. Hume did well. I wonder if the other candidate would have won I wonder what she might have said. It seems we live in a world where sides are drawn even after an election. Maybe it’s best to see how Mr. Hume does in supporting District 5. That is the true award!
