In a follow-up to the admission by Elk Grove City Councilmember Sergio Robles that he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, late this afternoon, Elk Grove Police confirmed the arrest of Robles.
The statement said:

Officers responded to the 5000 block of Elk Grove Boulevard for a welfare check after a security guard found a vehicle stopped in the middle of a parking lot with the driver unresponsive, Saturday morning, around 4:59.

Officers arrived and contacted the driver, identified as Mr. Robles, who showed signs of impairment.

Mr. Robles was determined to be impaired, placed under arrest, and booked at the Main Jail on DUI charges (Vehicle Code 23152 (a) and 23152 (b)).

Code 23152(b) indicates Robles' blood alcohol level exceeded .08, the upper limit for impaired driving. A source familiar with the arrest said Robles' vehicle was running at the time he was contacted by police, although the official report did not indicate this.

The 5000 block of Elk Grove Boulevard is the location of Raley's grocery store shopping center which is on the southeast corner of Franklin Boulevard.

With this event, Robles has the distinction of being the first Elk Grove City Council member to be arrested while in office. Former Elk Grove City Councilmember and Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff Mike Leary was arrested in 2009 on real estate fraud charges after he lost his 2008 reelection bid.

Robles is known to have attended the AAPI event in downtown Sacramento which ended at 10 p.m. on Friday, May 19. In his statement released this afternoon, Robles did not disclose his activities after he left the event and before his arrests hours later.

Unfortunate, but not surprising to hear Mr. Robles was arrested for allegedly driving drunk, and then passing out. So far, Mr. Robles has not show maturity to hold office, although three years from now when he runs for reelection, voters might be forgiving and maybe he will have matured.

Glad to see the Elk Grove Police officers contacting the drunken politician didn't bend the rules for his benefit.

Can anyone who follows Elk Grove Politics say they aren't surprised by the freshman Council Member acting like... well, a freshman? There are many pictures of Sergio online partying it up with the guys on social media. Just glad no one was hurt.

What's egregious to me is that this comes a few weeks after the memorial in which they honored fallen officer Lenehan, which Robles was posting about on social media. Shameful!

It appears to me that Sergio Robles only concerns himself with the wining and dining that comes with the office "on loan" to him.

I wonder how many times Robles drove after partying it up when invited to an event an as Elk Grove City Council member? Here are the stats: "On average, a drunk driver will drive 80 times under the influence before their first arrest. Every 51 minutes in America, someone is killed in a drunk driving crash."

Up on the dais, Robles is just an empty suit who clearly doesn't know the business at hand. His only role: Do exactly what Mayor BSA tells him to do.

Robles needs to resign!
