Social media video shows Elk Grove City Councilmember Sergio Robles celebrating before DUI arrest

Robles arrested, booked into county jail early Saturday

A social media video (see below) shows Elk Grove City Councilmember in a celebratory mood hours before he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

The video was posted by an associate of the freshman Elk Grove City Council member. The information accompanying the video says it was recorded on the evening of Friday, May 19, 2023, at the AAPI Night Market event on Capitol Mall in downtown Sacramento.

The video shows Robles and two other identified people in a celebratory mood. Hours later, Robles was arrested by the Elk Grove Police Department, who claim his blood level exceeded .08, which is considered intoxicated.

Other social media pictures (see third picture below) showed Robles individually posing with fellow Elk Grove City Council members Darren Suen and Rod Brewer. Suen told Elk Grove News he saw Robles as he was leaving the event early in the evening and that Robles, at that time, was not inebriated.

Brewer did not respond to a request to comment on his interaction with Robles during the event. Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and Vice Mayor do not appear to have attended the Friday night event.

In other pictures shared by a reader, Robles has been unabashed in displaying consumption of alcoholic images on his social media feed. As one person commented on Elk Grove News’ Instagram account:

LITERALLY NO SURPRISE HERE. I ALWAYS SEE HIS INSTA/ SOCIAL MEDIA STORIES + POSTS FILLED W HIM AT PARTIES LMAO

Sergio didn't get the memo that he is not Jay Gatsby. This is Elk Grove, not the Gold Coast on Long Island!
