Water quality concerns in proposed Triangle Special Planning area development prompt special meeting

The Triangle Special Planning Area. |

Based on the concerns of several rural Elk Grove residents, a special meeting has been scheduled.

The concerns center on the proposed 42-acre development at 9290 Grant Line Road, which is in the Triangle Special Planning area. The project seeks to subdivide the parcel into 33 single-family residential and two commercial lots.

As noted in an Elk Grove April 20, 2023 Staff report, the project is a 42-acre parcel and "is surrounded by rural and estate-size residential land uses to the west, and agricultural residential to the north and southeast."

Some rural residents have expressed concern the 33 single-family parcels could accommodate other housing units as allowed by Senate Bill 9 legislation and could affect water quality for existing wells. The Elk Grove Planning Commission heeded concerns about the project and postponed the project's hearing.

An informational hearing will be held at Pleasant Grove Elementary School, 10160 Pleasant Grove School Road, on Tuesday, August 22. The meeting starts at 6 p.m.
