Recently the Elk Grove Citizen was sold for the second time in less than two years. It was purchased by the Messenger Publishing Group, owner of several community newspapers, which has already made changes.

Sad to learn of the demise of The Citizen. While it was nothing more than milquetoast reporting, it was our city's news publication. It looks like Dan and his elkgrovenews.net site will be the ONLY resource available for our citizens to find out what's happening in our hometown. He's put his time in and he deserves respect.
Like the EGN mantra says, "You may not like us, but here you are."
Perhaps it's time for those at city hall to finally give Dan that respect. They'll all be better served with him as their ally and that will only come with honesty and transparency. Is city hall up for the challenge?
