A reader shared this reel posted on Instagram. The video from the account named Best of Sacramento shows a driver along Elk Grove Boulevard in Elk Grove encountered by an opponent of a proposed supportive housing project.

The proposed Oak Rose affordable and supportive housing apartment complex has generated substantial controversy in Elk Grove. The woman who approached the motorist incorrectly claimed that the facility would domicile "67 level one criminals right next to where my grandchildren will go to the library."

During the Wednesday, September 28, 2023 Elk Grove City Council meeting, it was decided to defer any action on the project until October 11. The city of Elk Grove is being sued by California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Gov. Gavin Newsom for violting state fair housing laws for its July 2022 denial of the project in Old Town Elk Grove.
