Nguyen drops mailer for primary election, promotes Elk Grove Democratic candidates for county central committee

Even though she will automatically advance to the November primary, where election to a second term is as close to a sure bet in politics as you will ever see, California Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen sent a campaign mailer this week. Nguyen, a Democrat, represents District 10, which includes all of Elk Grove.

Nguyen's mailer, "Championing Democratic Values," had typical talking points, including three of the eight candidates seeking election to the Democratic [Sacramento] County Central Committee District 5. Nguyen's endorsed candidates are Tracie Stafford, Giezi Bermudez and Darren Suen.

Two candidates, Bermudez and Suen, are on Nguyen's Assembly staff. Bermudez is Nguyen's District Director for the Elk Grove field office, and Suen, an Elk Grove City Council member, is Nguyen's Chief of Staff.

Now that Nguyen is in the Assembly and has a leadership role, she is seemingly more involved in the county Democratic party processes. Although Nguyen was a Democrat when appointed to the Elk Grove City Council in 2017, she largely eschewed involvement with the county Democratic Central Committee.

There are only two candidates in the March primary for the District 10 position, so Nguyen and her opponent, Republican Vinaya Singh, will advance to the November election in California's top two finisher system.

The other five candidates for the Central Committee can be viewed in the image below.

After his silence during the whole Oak Rose event, how can Darren Suen pretend to be a Democrat, or for that matter Stephanie Nguyen who also denied the project in July 2022? Even though I am a registered Democrat, I will not vote for Darren to be on the central committee and I will not vote in the District 10 race at all. If they are Democratic members, start acting like one! Might as well join BSA and be a Republican in disguise.
