Most Elk Grove elected officials are averse to taking a stance in defense of human rights issues. However, this week Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee Michael Vargas did just that.

My hat's off to Mr. Vargas. I truly can't understand why other electeds can't agree that human rights are rights earned and deserved by and to ALL of us. We need to be open-minded and tolerant of those different than ourselves.

To quote victim Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

We're all God's children, ALL of us, even those who seem so much different than we have yet to understand.
