Pushing a Deadline - After a two week delay Elk Grove Mayor, City Council to approve fiscal year 2025 budget

On Wednesday night, Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and her four city councilmen will approve the city fiscal year 2025 budget after a two-week delay. Councilmember Darren Suen skipped the June 12 meeting for undisclosed reasons, where the budget was scheduled for approval.

With the delay, Mayor Singh-Allen has pushed the state-mandated approval to within 96 hours of the June 30 deadline. The mayor delayed the approval at Suen's request, who said he wanted to vote for the routine approval.

Along with approving the budget, the mayor and her city council will receive a report on the city's five-year capital improvement plan. While California municipal bureaucrats and elected officials brag about having a balanced budget, they usually fail to disclose that state law requires it.

Fiscal year 2025 starts on July 1. The five-year capital improvement plan is available below.

When these goofs talk about making a balanced budget, it is also as bad as the guy who brags he quit beating his wife.
