Spouse of Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen submits plans for high-rise Oakland apartment complex

According to information from an online story and social media, plans for a high-rise apartment and mixed-use building in Oakland were submitted by Mr. Jake Allen, the spouse and business partner of Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen.

The story posted by SFYimby.com (yimby is an acronym for yes in my back yard) says the 15-story mixed-use building application was submitted to the city of Oakland. Allen Construction Expediters is the applicant and listed owner of the .54 acre parcel at 5295 College Avenue in the Rockridge district of Oakland.

Mr. Allen also posted the following on social media.

Story continued below

On Mayor Singh-Allen's 2023 statement of economic interest filed with the Elk Grove City Clerk, the Oakland parcel was not listed, suggesting it may have been purchased after December 31, 2023. Additionally, the mayor is listed as the president of Allen Construction Expeditors, located at 529 College Ave, Suite D, Oakland, CA, with no zip code and an annual salary between $10,001 and $100,000.

The proposed high-rise is at 5295 College Ave. The location of 529 College Ave. could not be found on Google Maps.

The website Opencorporates.com listed Allen Construction Expeditors at 5299 College Ave, Suite D, suggesting the mayor may have improperly completed her economic interest statement (see below). The California Secretary of State shows the company listed at 5299 College Ave. Suite D, Oakland and in good standing.

I find it ironic that in Oakland, their project is using every affordable housing incentive the state offers, but in Elk Grove the Mayor's city threw every roadblock they could at Oak Rose for doing the same thing!
