Third candidate enters 2024 Elk Grove mayoral race

After an extended period, when it appeared the incumbent Elk Grove mayor would go unopposed, two candidates entered the race.
Information posted on the Elk Grove City Clerk's webpage shows that Brian Pastor has entered the 2024 mayoral race. Elk Grove's mayor serves two-year terms.
Pastor's entry into the race marks the third time he has run for mayor. He ran in 2020 and again in 2022 when he captured 36 percent of the vote as the sole challenger to Bobbie Singh-Allen.
Along with Pastor, one other candidate, good governance advocate Lynn Wheat, is challenging the incumbent. In his two previous candidacies, Pastor accepted campaign contributions.
