EGUSD's $542 million bond measure 'Yes on Measure N' committee draws $185,000 in contributions

The Elk Grove Unified School District has placed its Measure E on the November 2024 ballot. The measure seeks to issue $542 million in bonds for facilities construction.

Information from the Sacramento County Voters Registration and Elections, an independent committee called Yes on N has attracted over $185,000 in donations. Given that the bond measure is for facilities, the committee has drawn significant financial support from construction and education-related businesses.

Interestingly, the largest contributor is Roseville, Calif.-based ICU Technologies, which, according to its website, provides school districts with "best-in-class security solutions." ICU gave $49,000.

Other significant contributors include $25,000 from PBK Architects. See the entire PDF list of contributors embedded below.

According to information prepared by the school district, if voters approve the bond, parcels will be assessed at $34 per $100,000 of value. For a house valued at $500,000, the annual property tax bill will increase by $170.

There is no known organized group opposing the measure. To be approved, the bond must receive 55 percent of the vote.

Gotta wonder if new construction will include student's smoking lounges at our schools? The EGUSD Board certainly doesn't have an issue with death money.

Unless I missed it, I would like EGUSD to provide us an itemized list of how they would spend the money if the bond passes. If not, I would feel like I am buying a pig in a poke.

You can view the itemized list of projects here: it's included in the District's 2025-35 Facilities Master Plan. They outline each school, project need, anticipated cost, etc. It's a big document lol, but it does include everything! And if the bond passes, the Citizen's Oversight Committee will issue annual reports that track progress against this list.
