In a signal of the importance Elk Grove Unified School District's teachers have placed in the Area 6 Board of Trustee position, the Elk Grove Education Association, the district's collective bargaining unit, has pumped $21,131 into Jennifer Ballerini's campaign coffers.
Ms. Ballerini and her opponent, Jacquline Ortiz, are vying to replace Nancy Chaires Espinoza, who decided against seeking another term.
Along with the EGEA's backing, Ballerini is supported by the Democratic Party. Ortiz is supported by the Republican Party and charter school advocates like former Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis.
As reported earlier, ballot returns and partisan registrations favor Ballerini over Ortiz. This evening, the advertisement below for Ballerini was embedded in an Associated Press story.
