New city of Elk Grove executive introduced during planning commission meeting

An addition to the city's executive staff was introduced during last night's Elk Grove Planning Commission meeting.

During comments by development services director Christopher Jordan, he announced that Jason Hone will serve as the city's assistant development services director. Comments made by Mr. Hone suggest he started with the city on or about October 28.

Jordan's and Hone's comments can be seen in the video.

The Measure E hiring spree continues, but this new position sure flew under the radar. Usually the City's Facebook page announces the various job openings and the newly hired staff parade in front of the City Council like the famous cattle drives in Fort Worth!

The City Manager has never explained the reason for the explosion in hiring that vastly exceeds the rate of population growth. The workload certainly doesn't appear to warrant all this hiring. For example, so far in 2024, about 50% of the scheduled Planning Commission meetings have been cancelled due to a lack of projects.

But, maybe all this is getting set up for the zoo. The Development Services Director will continue to carry the water for the developers and the new Assistant Director will carry the water for the zoo animals!
