Accused fraudster arrested by Sacramento Sheriff's who jumped bail, skipped the country arrested trying to reenter the U.S. illegally

A man who skipped his Sacramento Superior Court date and fled the country was taken back into custody after trying to illegally reenter the United States. | 

Today, the Sacramento Sheriff's Department announced a foreign national with no ties to the community who was arrested last summer and released on his own recognizance was taken into custody after trying to illegally reenter the county.


          

Chinese national Yubo Tian, 37, was taken into custody on December 12 as he was allegedly trying to illegally enter the country through Mexico. Mr. Tian has been turned over to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Last August, Tian was arrested by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Organized Retail Theft Task Force Detectives. When he was arrested, Tian had 6,300 stolen gift cards from Target and Apple. 

Tian was part of an international scam involving tampered gift cards, scanning the bar code, and stealing money from the gift card as it was loaded.

After his arrest, Tian skipped his September appearance in Sacramento County Superior Court and returned to China. He then traveled to the United Arab Emirates and Spain in November and returned to Mexico earlier this month.

With help from the FBI, Homeland Security, and the Placer Sheriff's Department, Tian was transported back to Sacramento. He remains in custody for his original arrest warrant at the Main Jail, is ineligible for bail, will appear in court tomorrow, and faces three felony charges.
