A City Welcome to All

We’re proud to announce that Elk Grove has earned a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign 2024 Municipal Equality Index! Our city will continue working to ensure our LGBTQIA+ community is safe, welcomed, and respected. Learn more about this year’s scorecard.

Important Update on Special Waste Collection Center Services

Beginning this week, the Elk Grove Special Waste Collection Center will no longer accept expanded polystyrene (EPS), commonly known as Styrofoam, for recycling.

Changing state regulations have made EPS recycling increasingly challenging. Closure of the nearest EPS recycling facility in Lodi in November, an overall limited number of local recyclers, and shifting recycling markets has made the recycling of this material costly and difficult.

We encourage residents to consider products that do not include EPS packaging when they can, discard this material as trash if necessary, and to explore alternative options for EPS disposal whenever possible. Find EPS recycling facilities.

Making Holiday Spirits Brighter

Each year the Elk Grove Police Department and Cosumnes Fire Department collect and distribute toys to families in need for the holiday season. Donations of new unwrapped toys are currently being accepted at the following locations:

  • Elk Grove Police Department Service Center- 8400 Laguna Palms Way
  • Fire Station 71 - 8760 Elk Grove Blvd.
  • Fire Station 72 - 10035 Atkins Dr.
  • Fire Station 73 - 9607 Bond Rd.
  • Fire Station 74 - 6501 Laguna Park Dr.
  • Fire Station 75 - 2300 Maritime Dr.
  • Fire Station 76 - 8545 Sheldon Rd.
  • Fire Station 77 - 8350 Poppy Ridge Rd.

Qualified families are determined based on household income and the number of people living within the household. Toys will be delivered on December 21 for resident children ages 1-11.

Program restrictions apply. Learn more.
