Shattering the suburban bucolic myth, Elk Grove resident describes marauding juvenile bicyclists harassment

An Elk Grove resident addressed Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and her city council about what could be described as marauding juvenile bicyclists plaguing the city during the April 23, 2025, Elk Grove City Council meeting. |

Elk Grove mayors and city council members have long fancied the city as a California version of Garrison Keillor's fictional Lake Wobegon - a tight-knit bucolic community where, among other things, "all the children are above average."

During the Wednesday, April 23, Elk Grove City Council meeting, Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and her four councilmen heard from one resident who exploded that myth. Felicia Mattle made the comments during the public comment period on non-agenda items.

See Ms. Mattle's complete commentary in the video, where she describes what she said was an ongoing problem in Old Elk Grove that is spreading throughout the city. Also included in the video is commentary from Elk Grove Police Chief Bobby Davis.

It is noteworthy that it was Chief Davis who took the initiative to address the resident's concerns, not Mayor Singh-Allen or the speakers directly elected representative, Rod Brewer. This validates that Mayor Singh-Allen and Brewer could care less about constituent quality of life issues. It is a contrary to their glowing narrative. Could it be these kids are spreading their shenanigans to Old Town?

I've had juveniles ride wheelies on their bikes and play chicken with my car and head straight for me as I was driving in my lane. This was on Lujan Dr. So this is not an isolated neighborhood incident. Too much police emphasis seems to be waiting for the intersection cameras to alert them to drivers with outstanding warrants. How about getting into the neighborhoods more and weaning yourself off the cameras doing all the work.
