Assemblymember Nguyen opens Capitol doors to future lawmakers

High-school students from Elk Grove to South Sacramento can step directly into the chambers of state power this summer thanks to Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen’s 2025 Young Assemblymember Program.

Running August 4–8 from noon to 4 p.m. inside Room 126 of the State Capitol, the free five-day course will teach 10th- through 12th-graders how bills are drafted, amended, and voted on. Participants will author a mock bill of their own and debate it on the Assembly Floor, then quiz lobbyists, city officials, and community advocates during round-table panels designed to demystify policymaking.

Space is limited. Students must live in District 10 and commit to the full schedule. Applications are available on the Assemblymember’s website and are due by 5 p.m. on June 23, and selected applicants will be notified in early July.
