As expected, during their Wednesday, July 23 meeting, the Elk Grove City Council approved the installation of a new flag pole at City Hall. The new flagpole, scheduled for installation in the next few months, will fly the official flag of the Wilton Rancheria.
During that meeting, Wilton Rancheria Chairman Jesus Tarango addressed the city council. In his remarks, Tarango said the flying of the flag adjacent to the American Flag is of great significance to members of the Wilton Rancheria, as well as the entire community.

A lot of people not associated with the Wilton Rancheria Tribe know of their struggle and how they were treated by our government to the point of non recognition. Sad to think after a long time you no longer are recognized like you don’t even exist. I am friends of the tribe and more so have long time friends of the Wilton Rancheria Tribe when they were fighting to just be recognized. I am proud to support their journey and deserve every bit of being recognized. People should learn and understand history before commenting on something they know nothing about. Glad to see their journey and look forward to to their flag being raised at city hall.
