Due to the increase in demand for pet food especially from the seniors in our community, Elk Grove Food Bank Services has decided to start a pet pantry.

The donations from our Pet Food Drive on Saturday, April 14, were a phenomenal success with over 15,000 pounds of pet food donated from residents of Elk Grove and surrounding areas.

Our next step is to start our new program to help our neighbors feed the furry members of their household.

“No one should have to choose between feeding themselves or their pets,” Marie Jachino, executive director of the Elk Grove Food Bank said. “Helping families and pets stay together during times of economic hardship is crucial not only for the family but for our community as a whole. Like humans, animals deserve the basic necessities in life.”

The process to receive pet food is the same as for emergency food distribution: photo id for the owner, and proof of residency in our service area. Our caring volunteers will give you a zipper-type bag full of kibble for your pet.

What: Pet Pantry, a food distribution program for dogs and cats
Where: Elk Grove Food Bank Services, 9820 Dino Drive, Suite 140, Elk Grove, CA 95624
When: Mondays through Fridays, 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
