Elk Grove Police arrested a 15-year old who is on probation for an alleged armed robbery last night.

According to police reports, the 12-year old male victim was standing next to the suspect when the suspect removed a .22 caliber rifle from his pants and demanded the victims cell phone. Fearing for his safety, the victim complied.

The suspect then fled on foot into a residential neighborhood. During the course of the investigation, officers developed information as to the identity of the suspect and a records check revealed that the suspect was on probation and lived a short distance away from the robbery scene. 

Officers responded to a residence in the 9400 block of Syrah Court and contacted the suspect and a probation search led to the discovery of the .22 caliber rifle used in the robbery along with the clothing he was wearing during the commission of the crime. The suspects was identified as the person responsible for the robbery.

The victims cell phone was located in a field near the robbery scene. The suspect was taken into custody then transported to juvenile hall.
