In her first campaign disclosure filed this morning, Elk Grove City Council candidate Nancy Chaires reported raising over $26,000 for her campaign.

A current Elk Grove Planning Commissioner, Chaires raised over $6,000 exclusively from 33 small donations from individual donors none of which individually were over $250 and approximately 70 individual non-business donations of less than $100 that do not require itemization. Chaires did receive three donations totaling $505 from Roberto Chaires.

In addition to the individual donors, Chaires loaned her campaign $20,000. Her cash balance as of December 31, 2013 was $22,556.

A Southern California native, Chaires received several donations from individuals with the same last name as her's and several other individuals from the Los Angeles area.

Chaires is seeking the District Four seat currently occupied by Bob Trigg who will not seek election after his appointment last January. Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee Steve Ly has filed candidate intention papers for the seat but has not formally declared if he will be running.

Good to see Ms. Chaires doesn't have any big money contributors so far.
