Man Brandishes Handgun, Elk Grove Police Discover Airsoft Pistol

November 18, 2015 |

A Sacramento man was detained yesterday after he was thought to have brandished a handgun at a motorist.

According to Elk Grove Police, officers were dispatched to the Bond Road - Elk Grove-Florin Road area after receiving a call that a motorist had brandished a handgun at other motorist. Responding officers located a vehicle in the area matching the description operated by 28-year old Johnny Jones of Sacramento.

After conducting an enforcement stop and detaining Jones, a search of his vehicle led to the discovery of marijuana and an airsoft gun.

Jones was arrested, processed at police headquarters, issued misdemeanor citations and released. According to police reports, the airsoft gun did not have any markings that would have indicated that it was not a real firearm.
