In the recruitment for a new Chief of the Elk Grove Police Department, Elk Grove City Manager Laura Gill's search led her back to an internal candidate, Captain Bryan Noblett. In a news conference held yesterday afternoon at the Elk Grove City Hall, Gill announced that Noblett would replace Robert Lehner as the next Chief of the Elk Grove Police Department.

A seven-year veteran with the EGPD, Noblett joined the department after 24 years with the Lodi, Calif. Police Department. Noblett will take the reins from Lehner, who is retiring, on October 3.

"As an Elk Grove resident for over 25 years, he knows this community," Gill said. "As a former Captain and its Assistant Chief, he knows this police department."

"This is a very professional organization full of really good people," Noblett said. "It's going to be my honor to serve as your police chief."

Noblett is the department's third Chief since its July 2006 formation.
