October 31, 2016 |

In-home diners in Elk Grove and South Sacramento will find eating restaurant food away from the restaurant a lot easier staring Wednesday, November 2 when DoorDash initiates service in the area.

Applying the principles of ride sharing companies like Uber and Lyft, DoorDash provides on-demand meal delivery from area restaurants to customers. The San Francisco-based company initially started service in Sacramento in July.

Over 300 restaurants are available to Elk Grove-South Sacramento customers include national outlets like The Old Spaghetti Factory and Taco Bell, as well as local favorites like Sushimono.

"Starting Wednesday, we are expanding into Elk Grove and all of South Sacramento," DoorDash spokesperson Kristen Webster said. "We have seen a high demand from both customers and restaurants in the area."

The normal delivery  hours for the service are between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m seven days a week and promises a 45-minute or less delivery. More information about the service is available at DoorDash.com and at apps stores for Google and Apple.
