Elk Grove to Open Sandbag Distribution Point in Anticipation of Weekend Storm, Flood Watch

The City of Elk Grove announced this afternoon it will open a sandbag distribution sites tomorrow in anticipation of weekend rain storm forecast for Northern California.

Starting at 8 a.m on Friday, January 5, five distribution points will be open for self-serve assembly of sandbags. The sites are located at the following locations (see map above, click to enlarge):
  • Laguna West Site - Klagge Court 
  • Cosumnes CSD Administration Office - 8820 Elk Grove Boulevard 
  • Pleasant Grove School Road at Grant Line Road 
  • Don Nottoli Park (Elliott Ranch Elementary School) - 10050 East Taron Drive
Additionally the City's corporate yard will be staffed by personnel and is located at 10250 Iron Rock Way at Elkmont Way.

Yesterday the Sacramento office of the National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Northern California. That watch will be in effect for 48 hours starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 7.
