March 30, 2017 |

A Sacramento family law attorney who has advocated for neglected children and domestic violence victims is among six individual who will be honor by Sacramento County District Attorney Ann Marie Schubert next week.

The theme of the 18th annual Outstanding Citizen Awards Ceremony is “Strength. Resilience. Justice.” Among those being honored is Sacramento attorney John Meyer, a family law specialist who has represented hundreds of abused, neglected children and victims of domestic violence.

Additionally, Meyer is being recognized for his commitment to helping left-behind parents and children when a non-custodial parent abducts their own children and moves them out of their country of residence (called Hague Treaty Convention cases).

Schubert will also honor five "brave victims and witnesses who overcame fear, shame, guilt and personal challenges to ensure justice is served." The victims include an elderly sexual assault victim, a couple who were attacked and robbed in their bedroom, and two sisters who bravely testified against their serial molester.
The recognition is part of the  National Crime Victims’ Rights Week between April 2 through 8. The ceremony will be held between  9:30 and  11 a.m. at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors’ Chambers, 700 H Street, Sacramento.
