A federal grand jury in Sacramento yesterday returned a single-count indictment today against Dilesh Sharma, of Sacramento, charging him with attempted online enticement of a minor for sexual purposes, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.
Details of the indictment have not been released. This case is the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force. Assistant United States Attorneys Rosanne Rust and Jill M. Thomas are prosecuting the case.
If convicted, Sharma faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum statutory penalty of life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
