Body of Missing Man in Lake Tahoe For Over One Year Recovered

July 31, 2017 |

The body of a University of Nevada-Reno football player who went missing last summer in Lake Tahoe was recovered today.

Place County Sheriff's and the U. S Coast Guard recovered the body of Marc Ma, 20, in 240 feet of water. The body was recovered close to the West Shore Cafe area where he was last seen on June 10, 2016.

Ma reportedly went paddle boarding on with a group of athlete friends from school. Winds picked up on the lake shortly after the group entered the water.

His friends were rescued by a boat crew from a nearby marina, but Ma, who was not wearing a personal flotation device, was never seen again.

This past weekend, Ma's family hired private contractor "Bruce's Legacy," which is equipped with a specialized robotic camera system. At 1:05 p.m. today, the camera spotted a body today in 240-feet of water. He was brought to shore with assistance from the Placer County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Coast Guard.
